While most married people hope to live happily ever after with their spouses, it's easy to see that things don't always turn out that way. When a marriage is irreparably broken, divorce may be the best course of action for everyone involved. However, the process of ending a marriage can be complicated, especially if it involves matters such as child custody and property division.
As readers in Houston may have heard, model Liberty Ross has filed for divorce from film director Rupert Sanders following his admission of an extramarital affair with actress Kristen Stewart six months ago. Ross is seeking joint custody of the couple's two children, as well as alimony and attorney's fees. She has been married to her 41-year-old husband for 10 years.
Sanders made a public apology for his affair with Stewart after the actress admitted that she had cheated on her boyfriend Robert Pattinson. Sanders told People magazine in July 2012 that he regretted having caused so much pain for his family, and that he wished that they could overcome the situation together.
Other couples who are seeking divorce should take the right legal measures to ensure the best possible outcome for themselves and their kids. In divorces in which a large number of assets are involved, it is important that both parties be ready with an agreement to avoid extending the divorce proceedings longer than necessary.
